Obituary of Harvey Fleury

FLEURY - Mr. Harvey William Fleury passed away suddenly at the Regina General Hospital at 7:00 a.m. on February 26, 2024. He was 80 years old. He is predeceased by his parents Raphael (Tommy) and Eleanore Fleury; his siblings Victoria, Riel, and Alphonse. Also predeceased by his wife Irene in 2018. Harvey was born on August 1, 1943 in Binscarth, MB. With only up to a Grade 3 education, he worked steadily from the young age of 13. Harvey did a varied list of work positions from forestry, brick laying, construction, farm hand, and an intermittent railway employee in his early 20’s, but his most accomplished long-term employment was the CP Rail from 1991 – 2007. He worked alongside his sons Robert and Randy for many years, as well as his nephew Sterling Fleury. He married Irene Ducharme on November 19, 1966 at St. Hubert Catholic Church near Binscarth, MB. They have three sons: Robert, Randy, and Claude. Harvey was an avid sports fan and loved baseball and hockey the most. He also enjoyed playing guitar, singing, dancing, bowling, playing cards, horseshoes, bingo, and trapping and hunting with his dad in his younger years. Fond memories Claude, Randy, and Robert have of their dad are camping and traveling, trips as young boys, reckless attitude with his vehicles at times, his quirky demeanor (cutting up his clothes and sewing them up to his liking), and being very vocal and funny at times. Harvey also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed watching curling with his wife. Harvey leaves to mourn his three boys Robert (Judy), Randy (Melissa), and Claude, brother George (Annie) and sisters Cecilia and Gloria, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Prayer Vigil was held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church, Yorkton, SK with Mary Bybliw presiding. The accompanist was Chris Fisher and the lector was Robert Fleury. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Sathiadas Antony as Celebrant. Accompanist Chris Fisher and the St. Gerard’s choir led the congregation in the hymns. The scripture readings were given by Claude Fleury and May Fleury. The general intercession was given by Mavis Luce. The gift bearers were Randy and Melissa Fleury, Nathan Bewcyk, Rylan Fleury and   Landon Fleury. The eulogy was given by Robert Fleury. The honorary casket bearers were Cecilia Fleury, Gloria Fleury, Annie Fleury, George Fleury, Sterling Fleury and   Jack (George) Pelletier. The interment followed in the Ste. Madeleine Cemetery, Binscarth, Manitoba with Sean Remus, Zachary Fleury, Tannon Keltie, Marlon Pachal, Ken Helmkay and Terry Peepeetch serving as casket bearers.
