ANTONISHYN - Zita Antonishyn of Ituna, widow of Bronie entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2020 at the age of 86.
Zita Angeline Antonishyn was born on December 14, 1933 in Goodeve, Saskatchewan; the first child of John and Steffa (Kosloski) Schmidt. She attended school in Ituna, Sask. and completed her grade 10 education.
On Nov 17,1953 she was united in marriage to Bronie Antonishyn and they started their life together. Their first big move was to Calgary where she worked as a hostess in a hotel for a short period of time. In 1962 they started to build their home on the Farm where they resided and raised their family.
Mom enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, cooking and spending time with her family. She took pride in their farm and worked hard to care for the house and yard. She always made sure everyone was well fed, she had fed many hired men and they always loved her cooking. Dad also loved her cooking and she made many of his favorites. Mom was very supportive of dad's business and travelled to many auction sales across the border with him. She earned her Geriatric Aid certificate and worked part time at the Ituna Pioneer Lodge for 10 years. She was a devoted member of St. Stanislaus Parish and belonged to the Catholic Women's League for many years. She served as the president and vice president with them. Mom was a regular volunteer at the Lodge where her patience, kindness and strong willingness to help people shone.
In 1989, Bronie and Zita retired and moved to Ituna where she continued to garden, sew, make perogies, crochet, knit and visit with friends and neighbors. She especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and her great granddaughter. In December 2019, The Ituna Pioneer Lodge became mom's home. The kind, compassionate and professional care she received was exceptional. She enjoyed the activities offered and attended church services regularly.
Zita leaves to cherish her memory her son Steve (Lori), daughter Anna Marie (Lyle) Bohay; grandchildren Ryan (Bailey), Amanda, Samantha, Daylen and Kylee, great granddaughter Murphy; sisters Rita and Edwina, brother Bernie (Elaine); sister-in-laws, Helen (Ian), Olga, Lillian and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Zita was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Bronie; her parents; sister-in-laws, Rose Antonishyn, Rose Olenik; brother-in-laws Matt, Bob, Joe, Walter and nephew Rick.
