Obituary

Born Arnella Barbara Heindel on December 10, 1933 in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, daughter of Stanley and Rose Heindel. Arni married Herb (Butch) Scholz on July 31, 1955, in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, a union that brought them three children. Arni loved being a homemaker as it allowed her to spend more time with her children. She was also a dedicated wife, woman of faith, and very active in volunteer activities in Langenburg and Yorkton. Her passion for knitting resulted in many, many Christmas stockings for family, extended family and friends.
Arni is survived by her husband, Herb (Butch); children, Gay (Timothy) Fehr of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Guy (Maxine) Scholz of Regina, and Holly (Randy) Berg of Yorkton; siblings, Arnie Heindel of Grande Cache, AB and Lee (Isobel) Heindel of Lacombe, AB, six grandchildren: Graeme (Bethany) Fehr, Roberta (Justin) Liebergen, Anah (Justin) Markland, Reed (Daran) Scholz, Stefan and Amy Berg; and two great-grandsons, Austin and Hudson Liebergen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Arni passed away on September 12, 2019 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. She was 85 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Rose; sisters, Sylvia Wales and Liberta Becker; two infant brothers, two step-sisters, and an infant grandson, Derek Fehr.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Guy Scholz officiating. Hymns played were 'In the Garden', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'Lift High the Cross'. Maxine Werle was the organist. The interment took place in the Garden of Crucifixion with Graeme Fehr & Hudson Liebergen serving as the urnbearers.

It is with sadness that I learn of Arni’s passing. She and Herb were such an integral part of the health region’s volunteer program that I managed for several years - transporting and assisting clients to medical appointments. My sincere sympathy to Herb and family. May she rest in gentle peace.
