Continuing Care
Cross Roads Journey - a road to healing Life consists of a continuous series of changes. While the death of a loved one is, in many ways, an end of a way of life for those who remain, it is also a beginning. But as with all first steps, we may need some help and encouragement. If we try to replace our losses without identifying, expressing, or honouring our feelings, we may discover anxiety and loneliness. No two people will grieve in the same manner. Each phase and stage of grief will be unique.
Bailey's Funeral Home Continuing Care Program has been established to help families during their time of loss. Continuing Care Co-ordinator Margaret Yost contacts families approximately two weeks after a funeral, and again at two and four month intervals. When requested, she will visit earlier, or more frequently. Margaret journeys with families as they go through grief, always respecting the confidences families and family members share with her. Margaret has worked as a licensed practical nurse for 30 years. She is actively involved in the palliative care program, and also with the Pastoral Care Committee of the East Central Health District. She has completed a three-year lay pastoral assistant program, and has taken several classes in the areas of gerontology, grief, and dealing with loss. If Margaret can assist you in your time of loss, call her at 783-7552. feel free to check out previous crossroad journey articles here:Easter People Autumn Grief poem Returning to School Long Winter Workshops Writing an Obituary Death of A child Telling your Story
